Amherst에서 잠시 휴식을 마치고, 작은 분 Summer Camp Checkin deadline 시간이 다가오는 관계로 다시 동쪽으로 Freeway를 타고 Lenox란 도시를 향해 달려갔다.. 이때부턴 빨눈 비행으로 인해 정신력 운전을 시작했다..
As checkin deadline gets closer, we rushed back to Lenox via Freeways from Amherst.

물론 Boston자체도 대학촌으로 먹고 살기는 하지만 🙂 또다른 대학촌인 Amherst에 들렸다. 90F+ 폭염주의보 속에서, 전미 #2 Liberal Arts College인 Amherst College도 한번 둘러보고 제일 유명해 보이는 피자가게에 가서 먹어 주셨다.
한편 역시 Carrier가 에어콘 기술을 개발한 데에는 미국 동부의 살인적인 여름 날씨에서의 필요가 크다는 걸 새삼…ㅎㅎ
Part of reason we took detouring around rural Mass was to check out Amherst and Amherst College – loved the small school vibe and settings and enjoyed the pizza at Amherst city center
Plus steaming heat reminded me that any innovation is driven by strong needs for that 🙂 Thank you Eastcoast weather and Mr. Carrier.

Last Min 준비물들을 사려고 Boston 외곽의 Target에 갔다가 동쪽으로 가려하니 어쩔 수 없이 시골길들을 지나게 되었다… Massachusetts도 대척 점 Washington과 비슷하게 시리 해안가(Boston, Seattle)에 대부분의 인구/도시들이 분포해 있고 내륙으로는 드문드문 마을들이 있어서… -근데 다 오래된 마을들인지 옛 New England풍의 건축물들이 즐비해 보는 즐거움이 있었다 – 그닥 지루하지는 않았다. (마치 Assassin’s Creed 미국편-아마 III였을듯-을 실제로 보는 듯한 느낌…ㅎㅎ)
Happen to drive along rural or peaceful area of Massachusetts – maybe similar to Washington, major metropolitan is on the seaside while the interior of the state is peaceful. Feels like driving along the scene of Assassin’s Creed 🙂

햐 정신없다….이제는 나보다 덩치커진 꼬맹이군 여름방학 캠프 데려다주러 땅끝에서 땅끝인 보수동을 무슨 동네 마실 가듯이 48시간 동안 갔다왔다…
왕복 대략 12시간의 비행이었고 갈때는 빨눈 비행기타고 갔고 하필 캠프 위치는 메사추세츠의 보수동 정반대편 ㅎㅎ 멀다멀어….게다가 까딱하면 Thunderstorm때문에 도착 못할수도 있다는 경고 메일도 날라오고…ㅎㅎ암튼 날씨는 살인적이었다…정말이지 여름엔 선선쾌적한 씨애틀에서 딴데 가는건 어마어마한 투자임을 새삼 재확인…
다행이건 이제 꼬맹이군도 나이를 충분히 드셔서 exit row에 앉아갈수 있게된고로 예전에 비하면 많이 넓게(다리를 꼬고 쭉 뻗어도 될만큼 충분한….) 앉아갔다…

Passed thru maybe all the cities in CT as we headed to Newark airport.
Boston외곽 말borough에서 1박하고 Mass Turnpike를 따라가다 84번을 만나 남서쪽으로 정진….돌아가는 길은 New Jersey로 가야보다보니 NYC를 우회해서 가는 관계로 84타고 가면서 Connecticut의 엥간한 도시는 다 지난듯…

Finally, the end of trip. Roundtrip flights between Seattle & Boston, 2 countries, 7 states (including 1 province), 4 hotels and 2 friend’s home with 2000 mile driving – all over 🙂
