This was the toughest decisions to make for this trip – This area is not officially part of Redwoods National and State Park, a bit far south & ‘middle of nowhere’ from our main destination (requires 2 hours of return back driving) so wondered a lot during the planning process but made the mind while driving down to Oregon – and this was one of the best decisions I believe we made.. ๐
Labor day day trip to Mt. Rainier – cannot believe things changed dramatically from this day with all the wildfires and smokes flowing in the area. – All the major roads we drove to get here and back to home was on fire at day after (SR 410, I-5, SR 167)
Maybe the highlight of the Kauai trip was going to Kalalau Trail – which is extremely closed to public – requires reservation to get in the ‘partial’ park. This reservation is usually filled up like 2 months ago so technically we gave it up going here, but magically we happen to find few spots opened at the morning before the day we plan to go north shore. So all plan has changed ๐
Hiking starts from the beach and go thru jungles and cliffs by the sea and last part requires crossing the fast running river (no bridge :)) to beach with furious waves..
Fun trail hiking – where hiking was a series of physical challenge (ultra muddy paths, crossing streams, juggling around fallen trees) in a movie scene locations. Kauai’s street chickens or roosters are in the canyon as well.. ๐
