Expedition to new Korean instant noodle.. Ottogi Stir-Fried Jin Jjambbong. Spicy hot but disappointed..

새로운 라면 탐방.. 오뚜기 볶음 진짬뽕 – 불맛을 내려 시도한건 좋은데 억지로 만드려한 불맛이 다른 맛을 다 죽은것 같은 느낌이라 아쉽다..

아무래도 매운맛으로 승부걸려는 볶음면은 내 구미랑은 다른듯하다.. 누가 먹어도 맛있는 볶음면은 나오기 힘든건가란 생각과 서울에서 전성기 시절 현경에서 먹던 눈물나게 맛지던 짬뽕이 그립다… ㅎㅎ

유효기간 하루전에 끝내주심..ㅎㅎㅎ (그래서 마트에서 싸게 팔았는듯..ㅎㅎ)

Price brings hesitation ($15) but it is worth of the money with crazy big Rib in the big Pho noodle bowl.

The Fortune Cookie Chronicles

Nice book on food, Chinese restaurants in US, immigration histories.

I have always thought Fortune Cookie is very similar to Japanese Senbei.. and this book nailed it off. And, also, I have to admit I was a fan of “Manhattan style Chinese Foods” -as it is marketed in Seoul- as the writer calls out as one interesting thing happening in the world..

(Well I don’t have the fantasy of “Manhattan” but these US Chinese food brings me the memories of cold & hungry times at Ames, Iowa…)

경환이형 추천으로 끝낸 올해의 첫독서..ㅎㅎㅎ 재미있게 읽었다.. 한국 Ho Lee Chow이야기도 나오고.. 홍콩에서 먹은 첫 중국 음식이 미국에서 먹었던 메뉴하고 너무나 달랐던게 왜일까 하는 생각… (아직 대륙은 가본적이 없다능… ) 항상 궁금해했던 포츈쿠키가 센베랑 비슷하다는 개인적 가설, 미국의 아시안 이민 관련 근대사 등등을 검증해신 책 되시겠습니다..

Mercurys Coffee Co. Bellevue

This must be Mercurys’ version of “Reserve” shop in Bellevue..

아끼는 동네 Coffee 부띠끄중 하나인 Mercurys Coffee Co가 벨뷰 520 근처에 매장을 열었는데 아예 작당을 하고 flagship store같이 만들어놨다..ㅎㅎ 밖에서 보기엔 커피 매장치곤 너무 크다라고 생각했는데 안에 와보니 아예 공장을 차려놓으셨구랴….
