이번달 초, 밤에 혹시 오로라가 보일려나 하고 찍은 random shot 그냥 달빛에 구름비치는 샷인걸로… 🙂

Wished another Aurora shot and failed – although cloud reflected with moonlight was good enough 🙂

Yakima Cherry Picking

돌아오는 길에 마지막으로 멈췄던 Yakima – Teteon에서 고려장 🙂 시도 실패로 인한 꿩대신닭으로 노부부를 과수원에 강제 노역시켰다고 치자… 🙂 재미있게 체리 따고 먹고 왔다…

이로 대충 대략 2400마일 5박6일의 여정을 마치고 집에 돌아왔다…

Although late – maybe a week or so, we enjoyed the cherry picking at Yakima on the way home as a real-real last stop

Boise to Yakima

이제는 진짜 집으로 돌아가는 날…마지막 여정의 first leg인 Yakima까지 이동… 사막기후의 끝장을 보여주는 Eastern Oregon을 지나 빙글빙글 Deadman’s Pass도 지나고 Washington의 끝없는 Palouse 밀밭도 지나며 Yakima로 향했다.

Boise, ID

Teton Village Gondola에서 내려와 들숨과 날숨을 다시 찾은 후 🙂 다시 집으로 향한 장정을 시작하여 Freeway 3개 노선과 State Road 몇개를 통과하면서 총 6시간 가량 운전하여 Boise에 도착해서 호텔로 직행…

사실 Teton에서 나올 때 이용해야되는 2500m 의 산악도로인 Teton Pass가 지날 예정이던날 한달전에 무너져서 돌아가는게 불가피하겠구나며 탄식을 했는데 기적적으로 예정일 일주일 전 즈음에 임시 복구가 되어 안돌아와도 되게 되었다… – 아마 미국 생활이 강산이 두번 바뀔때쯤 되었는데 이리 빨리 공사하는 건 처음 목격한듯 싶다…(역시 관광이 가장 큰 소득인지라 재빠르게 임시로나마 복구한듯 하고.. )

Wyoming DOT에 경의를 표하며 동시에 Idaho와 Wyoming의 광활함에 대한 통감 그리고 Teton부터 시작했던 끝없는 Snake River곁을 따라 달리며 무사히 Boise에 도착… (이강 Teton에서 시작해 Wyoming-Idaho/Oregon을 다 지나 Washington까지 와서 Columbia River를 만난다….)

Now back to the road to get-closer-to-home driving and stopped at Boise after 6 hours of driving multiple freeways and state roads along with endless Snake river which started from Teton –

Also, I need to admit this 6 hours of driving was actually a result of miraculous work as Teton Pass was landslided a month ago and only took ~3 weeks to build up the temporary bypass – Thanks to marvel engineering works and quick actions from Wyoming DOT (Big thank you!) – This is the fastest ever road engineering work I have noticed in US in last ~20 years 🙂

Mt Rainier National Park: Paradise

While I was excited to see great views while driving to mountain, the only concern I had was one thick line of cloud in the middle of mountain… and realized that line of cloud was sitting on Paradise area where we arrived 🙂

Still snow covered 🙂 and cloud covered blocking the main view 😦

동네의 영산 Mt Rainier – 오히려 가면서 보이는 풍경은 좋았는데 딱 한가지 걱정이 있었다.. 산중턱에 한줄로 그어진 구름… 정작 도착하니 그 한줄 구름에 갖혀 산 정상은 아무것도 보이지 않고 눈덮인 풍경만 감상하다 왔다…ㅎ

호텔방에서 에어콘 빵빵틀어놓고 Euro Copa 계속 보다 잠들고 다음날 다시 STL로 돌아와 에스키모 아저씨가 끌어주는 썰매타고 시원한 시애틀로 귀환…

Next day – back to STL to get an Alaskan ride back to SEA 🙂

Alaska 246: Seattle to St. Louis

Now having a highschooler who learns various things means we have to send him to other states for multiple week long summer camp – Now I look back and even smile on the old days I was complaining to have “expensive” local summer camp when these kids were in elementary or so…

This year for my #2, it is 4 weeks in Midwest (and he needs to go to LA after this 🙂 ) so I had to resume the duty of transporting the kid to out of town 🙂 and due to conflicting schedule we decided to fly out to St. Louis on Friday afternoon.

Rather than getting ripped off at airport with hyper inflation impacted foods, we also tested Alaska’s in-flight meal (as this one is long haul – they graciously “sell” the meal with pre-order only:) ) which were Penang curry and Korean beef burger 🙂

방학이 되는 고등학생이 있다보니 이제는 뻑하면 타주로 행사를 가야하는데 이번 방학도 작년처럼 방학하자마자 첫주에 애를 “배송”하게 되었다. 🙂 근데 최종 행선지가 어차피 공항이 붙어 있는 도시가 아닌 떨어진 도시라 애를 혼자 보내는건 불가능하고 비행편 일정이 딱히 맞는게 없어 일단 St. Louis로 향해서 거기서 운전해 가는 방법 선택…

어차피 공항에서 말도 안되는 가격에 밥먹는거 털릴바엔 차라리 기내에서 사먹어보면 어떨까해서 장거리 국내선 노선에서 선주문만 받는 밥도 하나씩 사전 구매하고 받아먹었는데… Penang Curry는 한 6입 먹으면 끝이고 Korean Beef Burger는 어디가 Korean인지 잘모르겠다… (이제 슬슬 미국에서 뻑하면 Korean붙이는데 재미들린듯 한 현상이 가끔 보이는데 이것도 그런듯…ㅎㅎ)

뭐 그래도 기대안했는데 범죄도시3가 기내 영화 리스트에 있어 졸던 중 반쯤 감상.. (남은 반은 돌아오는 비행편에서 끝내주셨다..) 그 엄청나게 보던 초롱이 step을 실제로도 보긴 했지만 아무래도 장이수가 있어야 범죄도시가 아닐까 싶음…

미국 오자마자 미주리를 한번 가봤으니 거의 20년만에 미주리로 향해 주셨다…
