뭐 오랜만의 방문이라 추억팔이 여행이 되어버린 서울방문-
그래도 오랜시간을 보낸 동네임에도 못가본 곳이 삼성동 코엑스일대가 아닐까 싶었는데 결국 공항터미널을 이용하면서 지나가게 되었다. 지하철공사를 하느라 그런지 좀 바뀐듯도 싶지만 다음에 오면 여기도 또 바뀌어 있겠구나..ㅎㅎ

Microsoft Surface2 in Korea
Microsoft 서울 사무실에서 조용히 앉아 일을 좀 했다. Reception층에서 제일 먼저 반겨준건 김우빈이네? ㅎㅎ
어찌되었건 개인적으로는 Surface시리즈는 2도 나쁘지 않지만 결정타는 얼마전에 발표난 Surface Pro3인듯 싶다. Microsoft는 Surface3 Pro에서 드디어 뭔가 해낼 것 같다는 생각이 든다…한편 이를 가능하게 해준건 Dell Venue 8 Pro 시리즈가 아닐까 싶다. 삼성 Galaxy Tab과 Asus의 Nexux Tab의 예와 마찬가지로 이 업계에선 폐쇄적으로 가는데에는 분명히 한계가 있음을 보여주는 좋은 교훈일듯?

명동 & 하동관 – Myung Dong & Ha Dong Kwan
이번 서울 여정의 실질적 첫 stop 명동 – 물론 잊지 않고 보자고 찾아주신 병기 형님도 보자고 하신데다..이동네 만큼 다양한 일볼 장소듯이가까운 곳에 몰려있는곳도 드물다는 생각에 첫삽의 장소가 되시었다.
버스에서 내려서 보니 중앙극장은 없어졌고, 건너편 평양냉면집들은 새로운 건물에 밀려 흔적도 안보였다.
명동성당은 공사중이라 아쉽고 – 뭐 사실 난 별로 성당과는 예전 중림동/약현 성당 이외에는 별로 안친해서리…^^- 명동은 소문대로 중국관광객의 명소가 되어 한국말이 별로 들리지 않는 듯 싶었다. 생각해보니 을지로/명동 일대에서 프로젝트한 기간이 S모증권, I모은행, K모카드/은행 합쳐서 만 1년이훨씬 넘으니 여기도 지나가는데 새록새록 기억들이 났다…
그리고 오랜만에 정신없이 먹는 하동관.. ㅎㅎㅎ상전벽해가 일어난 을지로 블록에서 명동으로 옮겨와 있구랴…
The first stop of this visit to Korea: Myung Dong in Downtown. Just simply chose this location to meet up with old friends for lunch and also all various banks I need to visit have their corp HQs or branches next to each other. 🙂
Old cinema near the bus stop have disappeared, the old catholic church is still there and still crowded with all downtown workers & Chinese tourists. (and also got reminded I have spent maybe more than a year of work across different clients at this street during my old consulting days in Seoul)

Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview Review after a week
In quick summary Job well done – Now we are talking about completeness of Phone OS – still question remains on application coverages.
Windows Phone 8.1 had great user friendly features Action Center, Cortana, Calendar got improved dramatically as well as Camera applications.
The only downside I noticed with this upgrade are the breakout of game app. Now all the games which was only accessible via Game app in past are also showing up in app list- which drives me crazy becuase of my kids installing tons of games.
이제 드디어 원도우폰이 8.1업그레이드를 통해 다른 폰들과 동등한 수준의 기본 OS기능들을 정착한듯싶다. 이제 앱만 유치해주심…되는데… ^^

206 Cheesestake Burger at Blue Moon Burger
As a big fan of Philly Cheese Steak, I had a huge expectation when I saw this 206 Cheesestake as a special menu at Blue Moon.

Well – overall not bad- but not so fascinating either. I still believe the best of any kind of Philly Cheese Steak I had was actually the one in DC, Georgetown back in 1999. And, I had only been to Philladelpiha once for a half day only when I was a hungry college student – McDonald’s was enought at then, so didn’t have any chance to taste Philly Cheese steak in Philly. 🙂

Nowadays there is a “Power Hour” promotion going on at Bravern buildings – $2 Breakfast Burrito!
Promotion시간이 좀 이른 시간이라서….역시 부지런하고 볼일이다 & 사람은 서울로 보내고, 말은 제주로 보내고, Microsoft직원은 Eastside로 보내고 볼일이다. 그나마 Seattle에서 종종 몰래 출입하던 Amazon Cafeteria는 최근 가격을 올린듯싶고, 회사 Seattle Office의 그나마 부실했던 Cafe는 그것도 공사한다고 폐쇄했다…그냥 닫아버리고 회의실이나 더 만들어주면 좋겠단 생각…
나이가 들어서인지, 따뜻한 아침 먹을 때 가끔 아주 소소한 행복감을 느낀다… -_-;;;;;;;; 예전에 고등학교 시절에 아침에 일어나 학교나 도서관가서 얼음 가득한 콜라 한잔 뽑아마시며 캬~ 하던 젊은날의 기개는 어디로…..-_-;
