Reason of being down in Portland was actually the kid’s event. Our little buddy was honored to participate his school’s team 1 despite he was selected as an ‘alter’ aka the 5th man in a 4 vs 4 format.

Team did great thanks to smart and sharp kids plus lot of preparation efforts but just fell a hair short (3rd but close L to two teams ahead of them) to enjoy a trip to DC for National round 🙂

I hope our little buddy learned about a lot about good team work and built/strengthened good friendships as well as some science knowledge.

뜬금없이 포틀랜드를 간건 사실 우리 꼬맹이군이 학교대표로 뽑혀 지역 과학 경시대회에 나가서였다..사실 처음엔 ‘5명팀 4명 출전’ 포맷에 5번째로 뽑혀서 이거 에바인가했는데 좋은 친구들과 준비하면서 특별한 시간도 보내고 팀에서 원하는 역할을 수행하는 법도 체득했으리라 믿는다..

다행인거는 그래도 신경써준 팀원들 덕에 어느정도 결과가 난 경기 중에는 실제로 교체출전도 했다하니 뭐..주어진 역할을 잘수행 한듯싶음…

한편 팀이 목표로 하던 ‘지역대회에서 1등해서 DC에 전국대회 나가기’는 한끗 차이난 3등으로 아쉽게 놓쳤지만 뭐 과정에서 다들 많이 배웠으리라 생각하고 나도 아주 즐거운 마음으로 지켜봤다.
