Sunset at Downtown Los Angeles: Olympic Blvd

사실 몇년전 E3 출장 왔을때 지나가면서 봐두었던 -역시나 “한건물 두호텔”의 고급호텔 (JW와 리츠칼튼) 옆- 저렴한 “한건물 두호텔”(Residence Inn과 Courtyard)에서 각각 하루씩 보냈다. 길건너의 고급 호텔들은 고급건물에 호텔별로 층이 다른데 Residence Inn과 Courtyard는 같은 건물의 엘레베이터 사이를 두고 호텔이 달라지는 구성..ㅎㅎ

공짜표 2장을 쓰기위해서 어쩔수 없이 같은 건물 두 호텔을 각각 예약하는 바람에 하루 자고 복도 건너 옆 호텔(?)로 이사하는 사태가 발생하긴했으나 뭐…ㅎㅎ 우리의 주목적인 Koreatown왔다 갔다 하기 좋고 해서 (만 2.5일간 먹고, 먹은배 꺼트리고, 자고…) 주차비가 좀 나가긴 했지만 뭐 어차피 공짜 티켓으로 숙박이라 나름 썩세스.. (근데 여기서 보니 옛날 출장 왔을때 여기말고 않고 조금 싸다고 해서 한블럭 옆 호텔로 갔던 나한테 또 화가 좀 나려고 함…-_-)

야자수 나무에 freeway 그리고 옆 고급빌딩(자그마치 류현진이 살았다던…)을 보니 뭐 좋았다 치자..ㅎㅎ 한편 지나고 보니 아쉬운건 여기 바로 길건너 Lakers가 경기를 했는데 그 표를 알아볼껄 하는 아쉬움도 약간…

Good affordable hotel(s) -except parking charge- in LA Live/Downtown. Two Marriott hotels (Residence Inn & Courtyard) are split into half & half by elevator area, and as we had to book this stay with reward tickets and each hotel had different weekend rate, we had to stay one night each at different hotels in same building 🙂

Alaska 1438: Seattle to Los Angeles

거의 20개월만에 타보는 비행기… 팬데믹 시작 이후로 처음 비행기 타고 짧게나마 여행을 갔다왔다.. 올해 여름엔 이래저래 희생강요도 좀 당하고 그에 반하게 혹은 연관되어서 이런저런 다사다난한 일들이 많았던 관계로 전혀 휴가를 쓰지 못해서 아쉬웠는데 짧게 나마 살짝 콧바람 쐬고 (위장에는 막대한 부담을 주고) 왔다. (여름 휴가 못간건 지나고 보니 화가 더 난다능…)

가족을 데리고 찾아온 따땃한 남쪽나라는 따뜻하고 해가 짱짱인건 좋은데 항상 공기가 다른게 좀 아쉽다.. (물론 공기가 다르다는건 항상 돌아오는 순간 느끼는 거라 항상 사후약방문 혹은 신포도의 원리로 사용된다..ㅎㅎㅎ)

한편 비행기에서 – 아직도 이 펜데믹의 여파로 ‘최근 영화’가 별로 없다… 뭘 볼까하다가 항상 리스트에 있던 Argo 감상… 벤 에플렉은 이래저래 영화를 잘만들고 연기하는거 같은데 뭔가 항상 상대적으로 저평가를 받는 배우/제작자란 씁쓸한 느낌.. (나만 그런가..) 뭐 그래도 이 영화는 스릴 넘치게 즐겁게 봤다.. Argo XXXX yourself!

First family air trip since this pandemic started – and also a little comp to myself and families who weren’t able to have a summer vacation in this year.

California always rules in weather and sunshine but at the end I always realizes how the air is fresher at PNW whenever I return 🙂 Anyhow good refresh in mental health & Vitamin D (and run an extreme stress test on the stomach)

Downtown Seattle

Saturday morning walk-around-alone at Downtown Seattle.

Block by block walking showed lots changes since I was walking around the downtown [Almost full 7 years ago!!] when I was working at SLU. Alaskan Way Viaduct has now fully teared down, lots of downtown shops at first floor are empty, 3rd Ave is now fully bus only street and bike lanes are here and there.

Lots of things must have contributed in different ways on the changes of the Downtown’s scene – Endless developments with high rises, “Seattle is Dying”, Covid 19 etc….

진짜 오랜만에 진득히 시간을 갖고 시애틀 시내를 대략 2시간 정도 산책했다.. 시애틀 시내에서 일을 떠난 이후로 항상 잠깐잠깐씩 왔다갔다 하는 바람에 목적지 주위만 spot으로 다녔었지 시내를 이렇게 오랫동안 걸은건 시내에서 일하던 시절인 2014년 이후로는 거의 처음인듯싶다..

그동안 여러일들이 있었지 않았나 싶기도 하다.. 🙂 도시를 죽인다고 비난받던 고가도로는 지하터널로 변경되며 고가도로가 없어졌고, Amazon은 끝을 모른채 커지고 있으며 (아마존에 먹힌 Macy’s빌딩에는 아직도 Macy’s 이름은 걸려있네…) , 고층 빌딩은 계속해서 들어오고, 길에서 방랑하는 사람도 많아졌으며, Covid영향인지 1층 retail상가들이 텅텅 비어있는것도 보이고.. 주말이고 여행이 아직 회복되지 않아서 그런지 몰라도 길에 사람도 많이 없어졌다.. 자전거 전용 차선도 많아진듯..

Forza Horizon 5

Although I miss lots of things from my old workplace, and one of the most – so far – is the fact I am far away from launch of great games in service. I have been extremely close in monitoring tons of game launches at old place and actually have watched myself adjusting the ‘tie’ both intentionally or unintentionally after I departed.

However, missing the opportunity to closely monitor the launch of Forza Horizon 5 is one of the biggest thing among those – Forza Horizon series never disappoints & the beautiful & fun/casual driving experience is always fun. As I am not close any more, didn’t jump into this game immediately at launch but made an effort to jump in at this weekend. This reminds me one of the big shift of mind I made when deciding this transition – ‘Gaming is truly personal interest for a while from now’ 🙂

사실 이번 이직은 너무나 변화가 큰 이직이라 많은게 아직 낯설고 정서적으로는 예전걸 그리워하는 것들이 종종 있다.. (실제로 회사 access가 끊긴 첫날 좀 당황해주셨음…) 이런 그리움은 사실 날마다 의식적으로든/무의식적으로든 점점 무뎌져 가긴 하는데 , 여전히 제일 아쉬운점으로 남은 건 Forza Horizon 5 launch를 보지 못하고 나온 점이다.. 이 게임은 정말이지 예술이다.. 그리고 당분간 ‘게임은 단순 고객의 입장에서… :)’로 생각을 정리한점이 다시 떠오른다..

Week 1 being Big Red

I personally have never been associated any red in my life.. 🙂 Grown up from the country hates red, and went to both college and MBA where color was blue… and even I worked for company called themselves as Big Blue… 🙂 Maybe the closest one might be magenta.. 🙂

Anyhow wishing my new red life!! 😀

긴장속에서 첫주가 지났다.. 생각해보니 평생을 거의 빨간건 좋아하지 않는 분위기에서 성장 및 교육(학부 -웃긴 이야기지만 정말 지하철역도 없으면서 빨강색이 별로여서 빨강 학교가 사실 친구들도 더 많았고 입학에도 유리한 점이 많았음에도 구지 파랑 학교를 갔다… ㅎㅎ-와 MBA 둘다…) 받고 심지어 회사를 칭할때 파랑색이라 일컫는 회사에서도 생활을 했는데 제대로 빨갱이 물 한번 주욱 적셔 주신다…

오랜만에 써보는 새컴퓨터.. 그동안 오래된녀석이나 재생한녀석만 쓰다 키보드 번들번들하니 좋네… 🙂

First new computer since 2016?! (마소는 진짜 나한테 감사해야한다..ㅎㅎㅎ)

Eternals, Lego Eternals, & 귀싸대기

Not a huge fan of Marvel but one of our brothers loves to watch and the other’s friend is the same way.. so end up watching at theater almost every Marvel movie.. (Can’t we settle with Disney+ with some wait??…)

One of the joy of watching at the theater around launch/release date is not getting spoiled from/by anything – while I was just about to be spoiled by Lego brochure – which I picked up from the mail few days before the movie and actually opened at the night after I watched the movie. Lego is fast- Had I ever seen this maybe 1/3 of the scene in the movie was not new to me. 🙂

Movie was not that terrible like the review score – maybe more of ground settings for any future stories – one special thing was watching Korean actor in Marvel movie.. and there were several points the director must have adopted from his past movies – I was the only one LOLing when Gilgamesh was using his palm instead of fist 🙂

뭐 마블팬은 아닌데 애들 중 한녀석+ 다른녀석의 친구가 마블 영화를 좋아해서 어쩔수 없이 최근 마블 영화는 거의 개봉주간에 영화관에서 본다..(그냥 좀 기다렸다 Disney plus로 보면 안되겠니? …ㅎㅎ)

뭐 그래도 영화관에서 일찍 보면 좋은건 쓸데없는 곳에서 스포일되지 않는것인데… 영화를 보고온 저녁 – 영화감상 몇일전에 우체통에서 집어온 레고 브로셔에 떡하니 주요장면의 대략 1/3은 보여주고 계셨다…휴…ㅋㅋ

마블 영화 역사상 최저의 평점이라고 하는 영화는 뭐 그냥 무난… 뭐 싸우는 격전의 이야기보다는 이런저런 환경 setup하는 신화의 첫부분같이 약간은 잔잔한 내용.. 우리의 “진실의 방으로”를 외치는 마형이 등장하시는 재미로 솔솔 봤다… 대충 감독이 마형이 어떤 영화에 나왔고 이미지를 가지고 있는지 그걸 소재로 하나둘 씩 써드심… 애기 분장 그리고 한국인만 할 수 있는 격전상황에서의 귀.싸.대.기 혹은 귀.방.망.이 시전…ㅋㅋㅋ (특히 귀싸대기 장면에서 빵 터졌다..ㅋㅋ)
