Closing the Chapter 6: Kiss and Cry

Today was my last day at Microsoft after almost a decade. I was extremely honored to work with great people, dealt never-ending but fun challenges; I believe these days gave me crazy amount of learnings – both as a professional and hopefully as a genuine good & caring human. Thank you Microsoft and all who have been part of my journey.

거진 강산이 한번 바뀔정도의 시간을 보낸 Microsoft – 오늘이 마지막날이었다. 정말 훌륭하고 나보다 더 똑똑한 사람들을 만나 끝이 없는 문제해결을 위한 희노애락을 하며 열정을 불태운 시간이 거진 10년- 검색광고쪽에서 3년, Xbox/게임쪽에서 거진 7년 정말 강산이 바뀌었다.. Microsoft는 무슨 음료수 공짜로 주고 피자파는 곳인줄 알던 우리 꼬맹이들도 이제는 벌써 살벌한 중고생… 마지막으로 오피스 정리하고 나오는데 살짝 눈물도 핑돌았다…

시애틀 다운타운에서 버스에 늦지 않으려고 뛰어도 다니고, 새로운걸 배운다는 호기심에 즐겁기도 버거워하기도 하고, 항상 시간에 쫓겨 Review전날 꼴딱 밤새고 일하던 수없는 날들 – 어줍하지만 마지막 인사 이메일에 회자정리거자필반 한번 진심 담아 읍조리고 퇴사했다. 이번에 정말 한동안 원없이 쉬어 보렵니다 🙂

Johnny Utah Pale Ale

코스트코에서 업어온 유타주와는 전혀 상관없는 이름의 시애틀 로컬 맥주…조리퐁도 오랜만에..ㅎ 뭐 맥주도 술이냐고 하실분도 있겠으나 맥주도 술이라면 요즘 술부르는 세상이다..ㅎㅎ

Another Seattle beer pickup from Costco with name of Utah 😀 Jolly Pong works great with beer as well.. If beer can be classified as alcohol (vs drink), then, nowadays, things around me are calling for alcohol.. 🙂

Broadcast Coffee

오케스트라 연습 기다리면서 막연히 시애틀 시내 residential동네를 산책하다 우연히 발견한 Pratt Park/East Yesler 상에 있는 시애틀의 또다른 local coffee roaster shop.. 뭐 나름 신선해서 좋다… 크로아상도 맛좋고…

Fort Lewis / JBLM

흔하지 않은 귀한 초대를 받아 지난달말에 Fort Lewis JBLM 군부대 안으로 방문할 기회를 맞았다.. 항상 차로 freeway 지나만 가면서 저 안에는 어떨까 궁금했는데 (한참 미군의 파병이 많던 시절엔 이 부대 지역 고속도로위를 가로지르는 고가에 가득한 노란 손수건이 항상 인상적이었다..) – Seattle에서 남쪽으로 내려가면 Tacoma 도심이 끝나갈때 쯤 나오는데 규모가 어마어마 하다…

뭐 실리적으로는 사실.. I-5가 매번 여기부터 길이 막힌다.. 특히 상행선을 타면..ㅋㅋ 그리고 확장공사를 거의 강산이 한번 바뀔정도의 기간에 걸쳐 여전히 하고 있다.. 그래서인지 항상 저 안에 무엇이 있길래 그럴까 생각만 항상 증폭…ㅎㅎ

그러고 보면 90년대에 한 주말 카투사 지인 따라 들어가서 구경해본 용산 Garrison 이후로 미군 부대 방문은 처음인듯…

Whenever going south from Seattle or coming back from south, I always wondered why I-5 always backs up from JBLM, when in the world we will see this decade long I-5 expansion finished… Also, on the same freeway around the base, I encountered the flying (actually landing) aircraft closest ever to me in my life (thought it was landing over my car) while driving I-5 once, and also remember lots of yellow scarfs on the freeway overpass at base – all made me wonder what is actually in inside of these military bases (actually joint base between Army and Air Force – so two bases)

Well, this one big question solved luckily from one invite from family residing in the base at the last part of summer 🙂 so this was my first US military base/garrison visit after Yongsan/Seoul garrison weekend visit during 90s 🙂

Day Trip: Olympic Peninsula

This was last month but took a wild trip to pickup the boys from a week long Boy Scout Camp from Olympic Peninsula with massive runarounds on multiple freeways, highways etc.

지난달 우리집 브라더들 나름 처음으로 여름에 둘이 동시에 장기 캠핑을 갔었다..이녀석들 픽업오는길 수많은 도로들을 지나 왕복 6-7시간 정도 운전…I-90, I-405, WA-167, WA-18, I-5, WA-16, WA-3, WA-104, US-101 헉헉…
