Boise, ID

Teton Village Gondola에서 내려와 들숨과 날숨을 다시 찾은 후 🙂 다시 집으로 향한 장정을 시작하여 Freeway 3개 노선과 State Road 몇개를 통과하면서 총 6시간 가량 운전하여 Boise에 도착해서 호텔로 직행…

사실 Teton에서 나올 때 이용해야되는 2500m 의 산악도로인 Teton Pass가 지날 예정이던날 한달전에 무너져서 돌아가는게 불가피하겠구나며 탄식을 했는데 기적적으로 예정일 일주일 전 즈음에 임시 복구가 되어 안돌아와도 되게 되었다… – 아마 미국 생활이 강산이 두번 바뀔때쯤 되었는데 이리 빨리 공사하는 건 처음 목격한듯 싶다…(역시 관광이 가장 큰 소득인지라 재빠르게 임시로나마 복구한듯 하고.. )

Wyoming DOT에 경의를 표하며 동시에 Idaho와 Wyoming의 광활함에 대한 통감 그리고 Teton부터 시작했던 끝없는 Snake River곁을 따라 달리며 무사히 Boise에 도착… (이강 Teton에서 시작해 Wyoming-Idaho/Oregon을 다 지나 Washington까지 와서 Columbia River를 만난다….)

Now back to the road to get-closer-to-home driving and stopped at Boise after 6 hours of driving multiple freeways and state roads along with endless Snake river which started from Teton –

Also, I need to admit this 6 hours of driving was actually a result of miraculous work as Teton Pass was landslided a month ago and only took ~3 weeks to build up the temporary bypass – Thanks to marvel engineering works and quick actions from Wyoming DOT (Big thank you!) – This is the fastest ever road engineering work I have noticed in US in last ~20 years 🙂

I-15 Las Vegas to Barstow

I think I have passed this road maybe 3 times in my life but I don’t remember any sceneries of the road

First was after spending all night by walking the entire strip and I was a shot-gun so half sleeping :). Second was the time when the entire sceneries was covered with snow. and Last time I was simply driving at night to LA so all I remember is full darkness.

Original plan was cutting thru Mojave but the road was closed for several days 😦 so had to take a detour via Freeway but at least I got the skimming taste of Mojave desert. 🙂

그러고 보니 이길은 몇번 지나가긴 했는데 경치를 보며 지난 기억이 거의 없다…ㅎㅎ

대충 생각해보니 기억나는건 이길을 한 세번 정도 지난거 같은데 첫 번은 처음 왔을때 밤새 걸어다니다가 동행해주셨던 형님 부부가 그냥 집에가서 자자고 해서 비몽사몽상태에서 지나가서 기억이 없고….ㅎㅎ

두번째 지나갔을 때는 폭설에 묻혀서 눈밭속을 달려간 엄한 기억이고…

세번째 지나갔을땐 해가 지고 난 이후라 칠흑같은 어둠만 있었는데 이번엔 그래도 제대로 사막을 좀 보며 지나갔다.

아쉬운건 원래는 Mojave를 뚤고 가려고 했는데 출발하는데 보니 날씨가 좋지 않아 모하비 관통하는 길을 이틀동안 폐쇄한다는 비보에 그냥 Freeway로 돌아갔다.

Mojave사막 말그대로 수박 겉만 핥았지만 이렇게 생겼었구나..

Gordon Ramsay Steak @Paris Las Vegas

저녁시간 비행기를 $5짜리 스팸무수비를 멕이고 버틴건 그래도 Las Vegas에 왔는데 한번 정도는 fine dining 비스무리한걸 해봐야라는 생각으로 빠흐리 호텔에 있는 영국 욕쟁이 할배 고깃집에 갔다. (나름 가게 앞의 터널이 도버해협터널이라나…ㅋㅋ)

뭐 이미 가격대는 마음의 준비를 하고 있었고… 식당 먹는 내내 너무조금 나오면 어쩌나 – 이거 아무리 fine dining이라지만 가성비… 이런 생각으로 불안불안하며 먹었지만 나름 그래도 충분히 맛있게 배불리 먹고 나왔다.

Weird enough – British chef branded restaurant at Paris hotel – first kind of fine dining with family setting (hungry and furious 2 boys) made me worry about the amount of food being enough or not during the whole dinner (back up was midnight Taco run) but luckily was good enough and tasted good.

Bye Las Vegas

이번에 일정상 Mojave를 직접 보지 못하는게 좀 아쉽긴 하지만 뭐 옆으로 지나갔으니 다음 번에 Joshua Tree갈때 가는 걸로… 눈은 없으니 훨씬 편하긴 했지만 I-15번에 대형 사고가 있어서 인지 목적지에 2시간 늦게 도착… 산악여행은 계속된다..

Las Vegas Strip and GR Burger

슬픈건지 당연한건지… 8박9일간 나름 distancing하면서 여행한답시고 자차로 산넘어 다니고 마스크 쓰고 삽질하며 다닌 결과 우리집 식구가 제일 기억에 남는건 영국 욕쟁이 아재의 버거란다.. 🙂

뭐 맛은 좋은건 나도 인정하긴 한다만…

At the end, all the kids remember from this trip is Gordon Ramsay’s Burger… I anticipated and also somewhat hoped the fantasy built during last trip with this burger broke with this visit but end up reinforcing/confirming it. 😀

Resort World Las Vegas

뭐 그래도 이틀동안 우리를 재워준 괜춘한 호텔… 한편으론 Las Vegas Strip 에서 약간 외곽에 있어서 어떨까 싶었는데 들고 나기 좋고 상대적으로 Family Friendly한것도 있고 덜 붐벼서 자연스럽게 거리두기도 잘되고 괜찮았다… 한편으론 양날의 검같지만 Asian theme을 의도적으로 만든건지 의식한건지.. 카지노 옆 food court는 온갖 아시안 음식인데 (별루 확땡기지는 않고 한식은 없다보니 아무래도 중국풍으로 갈수밖에 없어서 개인적으로는 중국사람 아니라 환영 못받는(?) 소외감도 약간…..) 허나 밤12시에 맛난 버블티도 먹고 괜춘..

Actually better than expected – although hotel operation is still a bit of mess – checked into not cleaned room, room credit not worked, hotel parking is full so had to park at visitor parking etc.. but nice and clean and still less crowded (easy social distancing) new hotel feel is still there..

Mystère by Cirque du Soleil

그래도 Las Vegas에 왔으니 문화공연도 하나는 봐주셔야 하지 않을까…?해서 예약한 공연.. 🙂 TI호텔에서 한다고 하니 해적들이 나오고 텐트에서 광대가 춤추고 코끼리가 걸어다니는 게 서커스인줄만 아는 애들에게 뭔가 색다른 경험이었기를..ㅎㅎㅎ (허나 여행끝에 뭐가 제일 기억에 남았냐 물어보니 순 먹은것만 이야기하신다…ㅎㅎㅎ)

Hope this was an eye opening performance (vs. simple circus show) to kids – however, all they remembered during this long trip was the foods they had.. 🙂

Freemont Street Experience

항상 Strip만 갔었던 Las Vegas – 차도 있겠다 싶어서 Freemont를 한번 가봤다.. LG의 천장 곡면 Display가 궁금도 했고…약간은 Old Style한 Las Vegas느낌도 있겠다 싶어서 가봤는데..

일단 가족이랑 가는건 초비추…Strip도 별로라고 하지만 여기는 더 이상한 분위기… 뭐 Family Friendly를 바란건 아니지만 길에 이상한 사람도 너무 많고 그리고 사방에 풀초향 냄새… 결국 중간에 나와서 호텔로 돌아왔다.. 근데 지나고 보니 사진이 실제 Experience보다 300%를 보여주는듯싶다…

Maybe the best thing at here was actually in picture only. Picture was much better than what I saw and felt 🙂

Las Vegas Strip

내차로 Las Vegas를 돌아다닌 색다른 경험… 🙂 생계형 생활인답게 열심히 포인트로 모은 Strip북쪽 Las Vegas Convention Center 건너편 북쪽동네에 새로연 Hilton 호텔에서 투숙해주셨다… 🙂

한편 날이 크리스마스 이브인지라 그동안 Youtube를 보며 학습해 놓은 식당은 어딜 가도 만원에 No Walk-In… 뭐 결국 다른 무제한 스시 부폐를 찾아 배터지게 드셔주셨다..

Felt weird to drive my own car in Las Vegas 🙂 Struggled a bit to do a walk in at some known spots for sushi buffet but found a good one. Finally at the end, enjoyed the good rest at new hotel – Hilton Resort World at Strip with full stomach 🙂
