Alaska 128: Dallas Love Field to Seattle

뭐 아무리 비행기라고 하지만 사실 Dallas는 절대 가깝지는 않다 🙂 지도를 보면 정말이지 가운데 한복판에 있는데 Dallas이고 돌아오는 편은 Jet기류를 맞으면서 오니까 달 to 시 4시간 20분 소요…

예전에 Dallas나 Houston다닐 때 항상 고민했던건 중간에 화장실을 가야하나 말아야 하는가인데… 그게 어려웠다는 기억이 다시 났다.. 🙂 창가를 선호하면서, 옆사람 방해하기 싫어서 화장실 가기는 싫고, 비행기에서 주는 음료는 꼭먹어야 겠으니…. 예전에도 항상 도착할때쯤 발동동 구르다 비행기에서 내리는 동시에 화장실로 질주하던 기억…ㅎ

돌아온 시애틀은 여전히 서늘하면서 촉촉한 공기가 코를 때린다…

Travelling back to home – 4 hours of flight has always been tough for me because… I try not to go to restroom in flight. This stupid idea (of not going to restroom) is all combination of this stupidities 🙂 First, I prefer windows seats, and secondly I hate to bother the passenger next to me :). Also at the same time, I cannot give up any opportunity to drink juice/water/soda in plane 🙂

This flight reminded me my old memories of rushing toward restroom whenever I got off the plane whenever I flied to Dallas/Houston in old days 🙂

Still love the moment of inhaling chill and air with moisture in Seattle 🙂

House of Gucci

One good benefit of be on a flight for me is watching the movies I missed. This was interesting enough – Kylo Ren without the scar fighting with Lady Gaga without the cosmetics 🙂 Good stories – just thought would have been nice if it was an Italian Movie instead of American Movie.

Alaska 기내 공짜 영화 리스트를 보며 뭘 못봤지하다 눈에 들어온 House of Gucci – 미국에 오래 사니 이상하게 정장이나 양복 잘 입은 영화가 나오면 눈이 간다..ㅎㅎㅎ 한편 단순한 영화이긴 하나 흉터없는 Kylo Ren이 화장안한 Lady Gaga랑 같이 나오는 영화되심..ㅎㅎㅎ

한편 이 영화는 미국 영화일 수 밖에 없지만 그냥 미국 영화 만들듯이 Italian 배우나 감독이 원어로 만들었으면 어땠을까란 아쉬움도 남는다.. 연기자들이 Italian accent의 영어로 대사를 치는데 한편으로는 익숙도 하지만 뭔가 너무 흉내낸다라는 느낌도 들음… (마치 강유미 코빅에서 한본어 대사치는 느낌도..ㅎㅎ)

In-N-Out at Dallas

In-N-Out burger at the deep in the heart of Texas…near Love Field.

There are two types of states in US for burger mania who lives in Washington state. The states with In-N-Out and the states without In-N-Out, and The Great State of Texas is one of the formers.

참새가 방앗간을 지나갈수 없듯… Washington에 사는 Burger mania에겐 미국에 돌아다닐때 In-N-Out이 있는 주와 없는 주가 있다… 🙂

하필 이 가게는 딱 Love Field공항 바로 앞에 있다..ㅎㅎㅎ (물론 공항 안에는 Whataburger도 있다..)

Turned on ESPN at hotel – and found out familiar but unfamiliar faces – Oh man both of them got old and so do I 🙂

케이블을 끊은지 벌써 수십년째… 호텔이나 와야 오랜만에 진짜 옛날에는 매일 보던 ESPN을 보건만 케이블을 집에서 열심히 보던 시절 자주 봤던 얼굴들이 나와 반갑게 봤다…허나 둘다 세월은 비켜갈수 없구나란 생각… 🙂

Tex-Mex

지난번 Yakima가서 먹여줬던 Mexican 이후로 Mexican음식을 잘먹는 꼬맹이군을 위해 나름 여기까지 왔는데 해서 Tex-Mex집에 가서 정통 Tex-Mex를 체험 시켜줬다..ㅎㅎ

Now introduced the real Tex-Mex at Texas to our boy…

Longhorn and Horse Riding

오는날 비행기가 늦은 오후 출발이라 일단 Ft Worth Stockyards를 가긴 가지만 가서 뭐할까 하고 고민했는데… 그냥 겉보기로 구경만 하고 밥만 먹고 돌아가기엔 차몰고 온 거리도 아깝고 해서 꼬맹이군은 ‘소타기 말타기’를 했다.. 🙂

덕분에 나도 쌍팔년도 시절 때 제주도에 가서 말위에 올라타고 사진 하나 찍은 이후 처음으로 말에 올라타보고 이번엔 실제로 말타고 개울가를 한바퀴도는 체험도 하고 와주셨다. 일행 따라가는데 자꾸 쳐지고 딴짓하려는 친구를 대열 쫓아가게 만드느라 ‘교감’아닌 교감한번 시연도 해봤네..

I believe last time I sat on the horse was to take a photo shot when I was a kid 🙂 but this time was the first time to ride along with the horse.

Fort Worth Stockyards

Fort Worth Stock Yards – 뭐 사실 옛날 우시장인데 이 동네를 이제는 Western 민속촌으로 만들었다. 사람키보다도 긴 Longhorn을 가진 소도 직접 보고 부츠에 cowboy모자 쓰고 다니는 사람들도 구경..ㅎㅎ

Avis

일주일간 기사 생활하는데 발이 되어준 Toyota RAV4 리턴하는날 혹시나 해서 Rental 기록을 살펴보는데 무서운건 Gas가 얼마 있는지도 알려준다… 다 안채우고 리턴하면 바로 보고될 각.. 꼭 채워서 돌려줬다..ㅎㅎㅎ

Drove RAV4 nicely -Last time I think I drove RAV4 is like 2000 at San Francisco 🙂 SUV is always best when driving in unfamiliar town & streets. Checking the rental record at day of return – amazed that they even tracked the level of fuel!

Driving Dallas-Fort Worth Area

나름 미국 4대 도심권 끝없는 freeway의 향연이다. Freeway 건설을 예술로 승화시킨 수준..거의 maze같은 곳은 심지어 freeway가 몇층으로 지나 다니는데 길도 넓고 운전하기는 아주 편하다.. 단 여기저기 -뭐 짓다보니까- Tollway가 많아서 좀 짜증..ㅎㅎㅎ(뭐 구지 Tollway를 이용해야 하는 경우는 많지 않았으니 뭐 나름 괜찮았다)

Endless ultra-wide freeways every where connecting to every where – although massive size driving in DFW area has always been fun – less congestion and super wide freeways – and mostly the ramp is a freeway around major highways 🙂

홍콩반점0410/Paik’s Noodle @Carrollton

서부에 살고 왔다만 아무래도 Dallas에 한식가게들은 항상 훌륭했다고 생각해왔었는데.. 심지어 홍콩반점도 있다… 뭐 이걸 그냥 지나치기 어려우니 이것도 역시.. 🙂

Hard to pass Paik’s Noodle place which is absent from Seattle..
