어여 10년전 비정규직 외국인 알바 학생 신분으로 석 달 살았던 어줍짢은 경험을 바탕으로, 샌프란시스코 구경을 못해 보신 부모님의 가이드로 나서, “주말을 이용한 번갯불 콩볶아 먹기+수박 겉핥기표” 샌프란시스코 여행을 다녀왔다.

당연히 취지에 맞게… 비용최소화를 위해 토요일 아침 꼭두 새벽-사실상 한밤 중-에 공항으로 가서 에스키모 항공 산호세행 비행기에 올라타, 대충 5년만에 산호세로 출동… 그러고 보니 산호세에서 보낸 여름도 강산이 한번은 바뀌었구나…ㅎㅎ

I cannot remember here but history -if it is correct- told me I was here about 37 years ago with my Mom..:) and I guess the airport must have stayed the same look and shape since then 🙂 Aloha!!

37년만에 온것으로 추정되는 호놀룰루 공항.. 37년전이나 지금이나 다름 없는 모양으로 추정된다..ㅎㅎ 알로하!

Good Price Hunting landed me to visit Bellingham Airport (aka South Vancouver.. 🙂 http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2016/02/08/buffalo-bellingham-us-airports-court-canadian-fliers/79842960/ ) – a perfect Southwest model airport – small & less-crowded airport. 2 pics above shows all the airport – single floor departure and arrival. So this airport maybe the smallest airport – with only 5 gates- I have ever been to (even smaller than Long Beach airport in LA)

But, very clean and “looks like recently renovated” airport and smooth (thanks to no crowd) check-in & security process and quick boarding (there is no ramp at the gate – you just walk up) no wait during any process 🙂 Definitely worth of 2 hours drive if you have price bargain when compared to departing from Seattle.

아이들 학교 mid winter break를 맞이하여 가는 여행일정을 짜면서, 비행기 표값 아낄려고 모험하듯 예약한 벨링헴 공항 출발 – 대박 성공이다.. 비록 집에서 2시간 운전해서 가야하지만 (집에서 Seattle 공항까지는 25분) ZERO waiting on everything.. 🙂 진짜로 하나도 안기다렸다.. 발권부터 검색대 그리고 탑승까지.. 표값이 괜찮다면 시애틀에 사는 사람에겐 물론이거니와 (세상에 주차도 공항내나 외나 엄청 싸다..-_-) 벤쿠버에선 must로 고려해야하는 공항으로 강추..

몇년만에 오는 Las Vegas인가? 한 3-4년은 된듯.. 몇년 전에 비행기 갈아타느라 내렸던 터미널과는 달리 아주 깔끔해주셨다..

헐… 고마우신 동생님 덕분에 꼽사리 업그레이드가 되어 -뭐 비록 2시간짜리 국내선이지만 비지니스를 탔다..

생각해보니 내가 비지니스를 앉아본적은 손을 꼽는다..
– 대학 때 교환학생 귀국시 Des Moines -Minneapolis 20분짜리 한 번 (원래 예약한 비행기 취소되어 빙빙 돌아가는거에 항의했더니 옛다 먹어라하고 보상..-_-)
– 2002년즈음 서울 회사 생활 당시 제주도로 workshop갔다가 돌아올때 모 이사님이 “니들 고생하는데 이거 함 타야지”하고 업글해주신 30분…^^ (정확하게 기억하기론 발받침 올라가는거 외엔..ㅋㅋ)
– MBA유학 나올 때 오버부킹으로 운좋아서 업그레이드된 서울-Chicago 대한항공 (이게 최고의 대박이었음…ㅎㅎ 라면도 공손히 “부탁해서” 먹었음.. 나름 업그레이드 주제 싼티나게 눈치보일까봐 조심스럽게 행동했음..)
– MBA때 뉴욕에 인터뷰하러 갔다가 오는 비행기에서 알수 없는 이유로(자리에 가보니 비지니스) LaGuardia-Detroit 역시 2시간..
– 역시나 MBA때 인터뷰 가야 하는데 비지니스로 업그레이드 하면 자리를 standby에서 confirm해주겠다고 협박 받아서 한번 Detroit에서 LaGuardia로 한번 비지니스였던 경우..
– MBA때 U모 항공사 인터뷰하러 갔다가 돌아오는 Chicago-Detroit 40분짜리 한 번 – “직원” 티켓이니.. (어쩐지 인터뷰하러 갈때 비지니스가 자리 없다고 업그레이드 못해준다고 되게 미안해 하던게 기억남)

허나, 역시 자리 좀 편하고 따끈한 쿠키2개, 술을 공짜로 준다는점(난 비행기에선 머리 아플까봐 절대 술 안먹는디..남들은 이런저런 칵테일 시키는데 촌스럽게 그냥 커피 플리즈..-_-; ) 그리고, 일회용 컵이 아닌걸로 서빙한다는 점 이외엔 다른게 없었지만 그래도 비행기 먼저 내리는건 참 좋았다.. 🙂 한편 “남”덕에 업그레이드 되어 타서 다른 사람들에게 죄송하단 이상한 죄책감은 팍팍.. ㅎㅎ
