Massachusetts와 New York 주 경계 근처에 있는 Lenox에 도착했다. (여긴 Albany가 Boston보다도 가까운 동네..) 조그맣고 이쁜 도시인데 Boston Symphony에서 Summer 음악 Festival도 운영하고 BU 음대에서 운영하는 여름 캠프라고 해서 선발도 되기도 했고 좋은 경험되라고 “꼬인숲 음악학교”에 작은 분을 보냈다…
Checkin 도와주고 2주후에 보자란 hug해주고 나왔다 (허나 다음날 아침 공항가기 전에 선풍기 사 들고 다시 뛰어왔다…)

물론 Boston자체도 대학촌으로 먹고 살기는 하지만 🙂 또다른 대학촌인 Amherst에 들렸다. 90F+ 폭염주의보 속에서, 전미 #2 Liberal Arts College인 Amherst College도 한번 둘러보고 제일 유명해 보이는 피자가게에 가서 먹어 주셨다.
한편 역시 Carrier가 에어콘 기술을 개발한 데에는 미국 동부의 살인적인 여름 날씨에서의 필요가 크다는 걸 새삼…ㅎㅎ
Part of reason we took detouring around rural Mass was to check out Amherst and Amherst College – loved the small school vibe and settings and enjoyed the pizza at Amherst city center
Plus steaming heat reminded me that any innovation is driven by strong needs for that 🙂 Thank you Eastcoast weather and Mr. Carrier.

We also visited Notheastern maybe one of the college on rise of popularity with ridiculous accept ratio 🙂 thanks to their rigorous coop program… Another hard working college in recruiting students, impressed:)
보스턴에서 하루 자고 다음날 아침 근래 몇년 사이에 대학입시에서 아주 뜨거운 학교로 발돋음한 Northeastern도 방문했다…좋은 도시에 산학연계가 아주 좋고 사실상 학교가 취업을 보장해주는 정도로 지원을 해준다는 소문이 자자해서인지 인기가 폭발인듯…
학교는 아주 깔끔하고 실용적이란 냄새가 풀풀…그리고 BU와 마찬가지로 학생유치에 진심인게 느껴져서 고마운 마음까지 들었다….

멀리서 보기만했고 항상 “저기 다니면 야구는 자주보겠다”라고 생각하던 BU도 제대로 구경….여기는 정말 학생 유치에 진심을 다하는구나란 느낌이 팍팍….

코네티컷의 신천국이 아닌 신항구에 있는 Y대학을 훑어봤다.. 역시 Y대학은 연세대학교가 최고다…ㅎㅎㅎ

지하철을 타고 찾아간 Columbia는 신입생 입주기간이라 그런지 아니면 최근의 시위가 많아서 그런지 교내 출입이 통제되어서 학교는 쇠창살 밖에서만 보고 지하철만 타고 왔다갔다.. 🙂
No access on campus so end up just subway riding in NYC 🙂

이번 배송의 목적지 Bloomington에 도착하여 꼬맹이군 4주간 지낼 곳에 잘 settle down시켜주고 나왔다.
나오는 길에 그간 궁금했던 Indiana 대학 캠퍼스 한번 쭈욱하고 구경하려고 차세워놓고 캠퍼스를 한시간 정도 방황하다가 더위서 기절하는 줄…. 화시 90도+의 날씨와 강렬한 태양 그리고 습도로 인해 땀이 주루룩 아니 철철철… 역시 Midwest는 쉽지 않은 곳이다 🙂
한 때 어렸을적 막연히 “가서 박사공부할꺼야!” 하던 학교 중 하나였는데 학교가 오래되고해서 이쁘고 좋네…
The main purpose of this funny trip was settling down my #2 to Bloomington, IN where he will attend the 4 weeks summer camp 🙂
After checking him in at the dorm, I endeavored to walk around the campus for an hour as I have never been in this campus/town – ended up getting soaked with sweat and steamed with 90F+ humidity filled classic Midwest heatwave weather and reminded myself that I should thank Mr. Carrier for inventing air conditioning technology & be thankful for Seattle weather 🙂
