1997년 뜨거운 여름 Iowa 시골마을 학교 기숙사 자판기에서 뽑아 맛있게 마셨던 Surge.. 2005년 미국에 다시와서 애타게 찾았건만 단종되었단 슬픈 이야기를 듣고 잊고 있다가…

이걸 되살리려는 Surge Movement (코카콜라에 청원보내기) 등등이 있었다는것도 알게 되었고.. 각고의 투쟁끝에 결국 5년 전 부터즘인가 아마존에서 주문할수 있게 되었다는것만 알고 한동안 다시 잊었다가 얼마전 갑자기 기억이 나서 결국 주문…

하필 폭염 주의보가 떨어진 이번 주말 딱 어울리는 타이밍에 도착 – 대충 이제는 맛도 기억이 안나는 12년만에 맛본셈…ㅎㅎㅎ 그래도 머리속에 기억하고 있던 “Mountain View보다는 약간 덜 달은 시큼함이 강한 음료”는 여전한듯 싶다.

So pumped to taste this back! 🙂 This was one thing I have looked around to get the taste again since 2005 as I have an emotional tie of  this with “Lonely dorm life in hot (in Summer) and cold (in Winter) days at Ames, Iowa from 1997 to 1998”

Anyhow, this soda was reintroduced after some hardcore fan’s movement aka “Surge Movement” and Coca Cola made it available from Amazon about 5 years ago…and finally.. I made a bold order recently and this just arrived at the day Red flag/Heat advisory went effective.

Still refreshing! (and my brain memory of ‘more citrus and less sugar than Mt. Dew” seems about right 🙂

리뷰가 에메들해서 (요즘 보면 유투브에 팔도 비빔면, 오뚜기 진 비빔면과 함께 비교되는 3개 비빔면 중 하나…) 그닥 끌리지는 않았으나 마트에서 할인을 해서.. 🙂 집어와 시식..

생각보다 괜찮은데란 생각.. 🙂

Tried another cold & spicy noodle.. actually tasted better than I thought.. 🙂

보통 1-2년에 한번은 미친듯이 석화 먹는날을 가진다…뭐 돈 벌어야한다는 건 이해가 간다만 옛날처럼 굴을 사서 자유롭게 그 옆에서 구워먹고 까먹게 하던 시스템이 좋았다란 생각만 가득이다..

Annual or Bi-annual crazy oyster eating day..

Well I do understand, the farm needs to run the business for profit purpose, but I do miss the old days when everyone was welcome to do the charcoal grill and freely eat at open tables next to the shop. (Now, those tables are closed ‘restaurant table’ area and you cannot do the grilling at all)

Cold Noodle To-Go from Blue Ginger

지난주 날이 덥던 날, 집에서 ‘냉면 하나 먹으면 좋겠다’란 생각에 가게에 전화를 넣어서 냉면 To Go 가능한지 확인하고 사온 냉면…ㅎㅎ 픽업후 냉기 유지를 위해 미친듯이 달려집에와 먹었다..ㅎㅎㅎ 이넘의 바이러스때문에 정말 다양한 메뉴를 주문해 먹는다..

Surprised to learn even cold noodle is available for To-Go order at Blue Ginger.. 🙂

Free Solo

아 증말 기분 나쁠정도로 살떨린 다큐 영화 Free Solo..

우리집 꼬맹이군이 다큐영화인데 보여달라고 노래해서 ‘유린당하는 Solo란 사람 혹은 그룹의 사람들을 자유롭게 풀어내라라고 투쟁하는 영화인가?’ 하고 봤는데…. 혼자서 도구를 전혀 쓰지 않고 암벽등반하는걸 Free Solo라고 한다고한다..ㅎㅎㅎ

암튼 살떨리게 무서운 다큐.. 정말 마지막즈음엔 “당최 왜 왜 왜 저 고생을…”를 반복하며 봤다..압박감 만땅..

어찌되었건 인간의 무서운 의지를 보여주는 영화인듯 싶다..

근데 우리 꼬맹이군은 이거에 필받아 Yosemite를 데려가달라고 무서운 의지를 보이고 있는데.. (코로나가 제일 심한 곳중 하나가 California라는건…험)

This is another movie of stunning graphics with crazy idea of rock climbing without any tools. (Now I learned that is what ‘Free Solo’ means.. – originally thought like “Free the people or group called ‘Solo’?”) A gentleman determined to climb El Capitan all by hands and legs only. So whenever he makes a move, it touched my nerve.

This movie was one of the wish list of our little one, and now he wishes to go to Yosemite in this Summer – but California is mentioned on daily basis in the news for virus epic center…so not sure how to think about/deal with…

黑糖珍奶 – 흑당진내/Brown Sugar Bubble Tea Ice Bar

이름/뜻이 중한으로 직역하면 좀… ㅡ.ㅡ 어찌되었건 버블티 아이스크림. 뭐 not bad..

한편 흑당의 한계인지는 몰라도 (지난번 흑당라떼 이후로 흑당에 대한 기대가 푹 떨어졌음..ㅎㅎ) 꼭 다시 먹어야겠다는 생각은 들지는 않는다…

Taiwanese Brown Sugar Bubble Tea Ice Bar.  – Not bad..but cannot beat the great taste of bubble tea itself 🙂

Bye Weber Smokey Joe

정말 오래 쓴 Smokey Joe… 사실 몇년전부터 밑에 바람 구멍 control이 분리되고 이제는 다리가 부실해지고 있어서 도저히 안되겠다 싶어서 짐정리의 일환 중 작별했다.. Ann Arbor에서부터 같이 온 식구 하나 더 작별.. (원래 동기형 거였는데 졸업할때 그 형이 서울로 가는 바람에 우리집에 Seattle로 같이 오셨음..ㅎㅎ)

10년넘게 수많은 고기를 구워주며 많은 동네 공원들, 캠핑장, 그리고 집의 덱 혹은 마당에서도 열심히 말없이 불살라줬던 친구와 작별했다… 심지어는 가난한 주인으로 인해 Fire pit역할을 한적도 종종 있고…  (암튼 웨버의 튼튼함/내구성은 장난 아니다 싶다..)

사실집에서는 Gas Grill을 산 이후로 주로 야외용으로 데리고 다녔지만 훈훈한 맛은 최고로 잡아주는 좋은 친구였다..흑흑..

Took a last shot at recycle box for my long friend -Smokey Joe.. 🙂 This one travelled along with me from Ann Arbor, and went together numerous parks, camping sites, and been a good friend to cook all the meats we had during the years..

After crazy workloads and wears (sagging leg, and broken air control, and rusting grate) had to say good-bye to this good friend but hope he gets a renewed life to whatever it will be..

맛남의 광장에 나와서 장안의 화제 다시마 2개 한정판 오뚜기 오동통면…한국에서 물건너 와주셨다… 사실 항상 다시마가 뭐 그리 대단할까 싶기도 했지만, 미국에서 너구리를 먹어보면 확실히 알게 된다.. (미주판 너구리엔 무슨 사연인지 다시마가 없음 – 그래서 너구리를 한국산을 구지 배송받아 먹는 사람들도 있음..ㅎㅎㅎ)

암튼 다시마의 소중함을 알기에 이거 방송에 나온거 보고 막연히 먹어보고 싶단 생각을 기대없이 했었는데 지인께서 한국에서 공수해주신 덕분에 냠냠…ㅎㅎ

아~ 깊은맛… 오랜만에 엄청 맛있는 라면되셨다..ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ

This one was a sensational one – double kelp thick noodle ramen: limited edition-  introduced as a way to help the overproduction situation of kelp farms on a Korean TV food show. I just watched that clip and thought it would taste great but end up having this as real – thanks to good friend sent this over to me 🙂

Tasted INCREDIBLE! 🙂

Reebok Blacktop Bag

또하나의 추억 버리기… Reebok Blacktop Bag..

여느 90년대의 고등학생처럼 그땐 이 큰 농구가방을 매고 공부를 하곤했었고 재수할때 내내 무거운 책들 넣고 다니며… 그 이후로는 가끔 여행용 가방으로 썼던 기억이다..ㅎㅎ 심지어는 MBA차 미국건너올때 이 가방에 무거운 책 다 때려놓고 핸드 캐리… 그때엔 핸드 캐리의 원칙은 있어도 이상하지 않으면 특별히 핸드캐리는 무게를 재지 않아서 어깨가 빠그러지게 무거워도 안무거워 보일려고 노력했었음..ㅎㅎㅎ

왠지 작별하고 오니 쓸떼가 또 있었는데…란 생각이 드는듯 싶다…ㅎㅎㅎ

Another farewell to old memory – Reebok Blacktop Bag.. like other highschoolers in 90s I also enjoyed the ‘fashion’ of using basketball bag as school bag and has been a good utility bag afterwards.. 🙂 Maybe the most recently best use of this bag was using as a hand-carry in a flight when I flied over to Detroit from Seoul in 2005 with full pack of heavy books.. 🙂 (At then you don’t have to weight the hand-carry if it doesn’t look ‘fishy.’.:) so had to pretend this is not heavy although my shoulder was screaming… 🙂
