One of the DC metro’s “native” food – Peking Duck at Peking Gourmet Inn. Saw articles that this is celeb’s favorite place (i.e. George Bush, John Travolta, etc…. had tons of celeb’s photo at inside of the restaurant – even saw Psy’s photo) – but meeting old friend was even better ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks to Saturday morning schedule and no direct red-eye route from Seattle to DC, had to go thru airport-only-San Diego-for-an-hour as a transit in trip to DC. Transit-in-a-while obviously did cause missing of baggage upon arrival at BWI. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Nice book on food, Chinese restaurants in US, immigration histories.

I have always thought Fortune Cookie is very similar to Japanese Senbei..ย  and this book nailed it off. And, also, I have to admit I was a fan of “Manhattan style Chinese Foods” -as it is marketed in Seoul- as the writer calls out as one interesting thing happening in the world..

(Well I don’t have the fantasy of “Manhattan” but these US Chinese food brings me the memories of cold & hungry times at Ames, Iowa…)
