USC Souvenirs

한국 origin으로 미국에 살다보면 피할수 없게되는 羅城 혹은 南加州와의 인연…

나도 한때 공부하러갈 뻔하는 동네와 지인들이 많은 동네인걸로 끝나나 싶었는데 뜬금없이 뼈속까지 모든게 시애틀인 아드님(근데 이 분은 출생지는 미시간이심..8개월때 西雅圖로 이식되심.. )께서 공부하러간 동네가 되어버렸다..

암튼 열쇠고리 스티커 collection에 유물들이 추가되었고 썬바이저도 하나 모셔왔다…

I have always thought my connections to  Southern California or LA will remain only as the place I have almost have attended for Business School (UCLA) or the place where I have lots of people I know from various histories.

Hardly have I imagined to have a new connection, I was wrong to find my diehard Seattlite boy going to college to that place.

So now I have new collections on my Keychain Sticker boards as well as a new sun visor.

Alaska 585: Los Angeles to Seattle

돌아올 때도 Economy 한켠에 짱박아놨더니 고맙게도 이번엔 드디어 Premium으로 업그레이드를 해주셨다…뭐 Gold라고 초코렛 하나 더 줘어주고 인천공항에서 Oneworld Lounge에서 밥먹게 해주신 이후로는 자리 업그레이드는 처음…(사실 이전까지 Premium Economy는 100% 회사에서 돈주고 태워준 거였다…)

마음도 쎈티하고 해서 그냥 공짜로 주는 위스키 칵테일 한잔 주욱 들이키고 다리 쭉 뻗고 숙면 모드….대충 2-3시간만에 시애틀 도착..이제 큰 분 없는 3인 가족의 새로운 일상의 시작이다…

Got a nice upgrade bump into Premium Economy this time for the first time..First seat upgrade ever as a Atmos Gold…

About 2-3 hours of deep sleep after having  a small can of old fashioned landed me at familiar but now different Seattle life.

Last So Cal Scenes

입학식이 끝나도 떠나기 전까지 이것저것 준비시키느라 진땀을 흘렸다. 점점 떠나는 시간이 다가올수록 아이의 표정이 어두워지는걸 보니 마음은 계속 무거워진 채 LA 시내 일대를 차몰고 여기저기 돌아다녔다… 몇 달만 버티면 된다고, 지나고 보면 이건 이불킥감이라고 누누히 말하며 돌아올 준비…

University of Southern California: Jan 2026

정확히 대략 만 2년+1-2주 전에 여기를 방문했었는데 그 이후 2년이 흘러 많은 일이 있다가 제대로 오게되었다..

사실 갔다 돌아온 지금 마음이 좀 먹먹하지만 USC에는 정말 감사한 마음이다…

Has been about 2 years and 1 or 2 weeks to revisit here. There has been lot of things happening but thank you so much USC for trusting our A’s potentials…

Alaska 1306: Seattle to Los Angeles

SEA to LAX 쌀쌀하게 습윤한 시애틀을 떠나 LA 도착…사소하지만 이코노미 뒷편에서 가는데도 불구하고 Alaska 골드라고 이름 불러주고 민트 다크초콜렛 하나 스폐셜하게 주는데 아주 머슥하면서도 감사한 마음……ㅎㅎ

Mid winter trip to sunny Southern California from rainy and chill Seattle. I was really touched when Alaska gave me a piece of dark chocolate as an appreciation of me being a Gold member (Despite I was hiding in the back of Economy…:) )

This fun journey of applying to most of most competitive school started…. this recent random insta post reminded me how hard the battle was…

랜덤하게 뜬 인스타그램…. 우리 큰 분은 결론적으로 이 리스트의 대부분의 학교들에 지원했고 -심지어 이 학교들 다 지원할뻔도 했음- 결과적으로는 여기에 있는 몇 학교에서 용서를 받아 심지어 다니게 되었다…정말이지 광풍의 시절이었다…

이 과정과 결과를 내년에 한번 더 해야한다고 생각하니 아주 끔찍하다…ㅎㅎ
