Last Chance U from Netflix
Another decent sports reality documentary series from Netflix original contents..shows a lot of behind the scene’s challenge of being a student athlete. Reminded my old 13th grader life at J Academy in Seoul 🙂
넷플릭스에서 재밌게 본 Last Chance U. 한국말로 번역하면 뭐랄까 막장대? 뭐 사실 막장까진 아니고 이런저런 한때 지역혹은 전국을 떠들썩하게 했던 미식축구 고교 유망주들이 대학에 입학한 후 다양한 사유로 (대형 사고를 치거나, 학력 수준이 너무 현저하게 부족하거나, 가정 환경 문제, 운, 등등..) 4년제 대학 풋볼 프로그램에서 쫓겨나거나 튕겨나온 이런저런 상처와 불만을 가진 학생들이 2년제 시골 동네 college로 적을 옮겨가서 “재수”하면서 선수 생활 혹은 학업 연장의 꿈을 이룰려는 과정에서 일어나는 이런저런 일들을 보여준다..
물론 이러고 대부분 학년이 끝날때 다른 학교로 다시 스카웃되어 편입해서들 커리어를 연장해가는 이야기.. 쌍팔년도 미식축구판 종로학원 이야기 정도? 🙂 모든 2년제가 다 그런건 아니고 그런 선수들을 받아 훈련시켜 다시 키우는 재활공장 같은 유명한 학교 2개가 나온다.. (나름 이 루트를 통해 유명한 학교 졸업하고 NFL선수로 뛰는 졸업생들도 많더라..)
