One new Korean movie at Netflix – Space Sweepers – I heard this one was the movie struggled to find the screens with pandemic so end up coming straight to Netflix. Similar settings of Guardians of Galaxy plus taste of Mars, Star Wars, Cyberpunk 2077, but found out a creative way to tell the space blockbuster story.

I think they can simply had the English title as Victory or Ship Victory?

승리호 이틀에 걸쳐 완주… 한국 영화의 새로운 오락 영화 시도라는 점에서 박수 천만번.. (제발 이제 경상도, 전라도, 연변 사투리 쓰는 깡패가 어떤식으로든 나오는 이야기 그만 하자..) 모든게 상상인 미래의 이야기라지만 나름 현실성이 높은듯.. 우주쓰레기, 화성 이야기, 다국어의 실시간 통역… 등등..

아주 빵빵터지는 빅재미는 아니었지만 전반적으로 연기들이 좋고 디테일들이 아주 치밀하게 묘사되어 있어 그거 보는 재미도 있었다.

A new movie at Netflix at this week – finished it up at early days… 🙂 I know going into theater is not an option any more but this is a kind of movie makes me think theater is the place you go to sit and relax to have Icee with a bucket of popcorn..

믿고 보는 조승우 – 전편에 비해 약간은 쥐어짜낸 내용이 보이지만 -아니면 여기 저기 던져놓는 떡밥 구조에 익숙해져서인가- 그래도 늦었지만 재미있게 봤다..

오 이런 진주가 숨어있었다니… 항상 관심있게 봐온 중동사와 첩보 스릴러가 버무려진 영화가 있었네… 영화에서 어느정도 미화/각색을 했을거라 얼마정도는 진실과 다르겠거니 생각은 하지만 아무기대없이 봤다가 술술 다 봤다…

Another nice find at Netflix…. history+spy action 🙂 I don’t know whether the reality of this story is a story of opportunistic traitor or peace maker but good enough movie to watch for..

The Last Days of American Crime

OMG – Tomatometer 0% 🙂 and now I know why… One of the few movies kind of making you question why you are watching this till end…:) The only thing I learned is… you gotta live close to Canada…:)

제목은 아주 재미있을듯 하지만 -내용도 잘각색했음 그리 나쁘지도 않았을텐데-… 그냥 최악의 영화로 남을듯싶다.. 0%는 다 이유가 있다..ㅎㅎㅎ 한줄 요약은 “언제든 넘어갈수 있게 캐나다 주위에 살자?” 정도…ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

The Cuba Libre Story

Another nice history documentary at Netflix. Having learned most of the history subjects in Korean education system (obviously from South 🙂 ) any chance of read/learn/see history on Cuba has been zero – or all things I know about Cuba has been names of Fidel Castro/Che Guevara, nuclear crisis in Kennedy period, forgotten history of Korean immigration to Cuba in early 1900s and baseball.

Nice documentary giving the idea of how and why it has come to current state.

넷플릭스에서 발견한 또 하나의 명작 역사 다큐 시리즈…The Cuba Libre Story 아무래도 미국에 살다보니 (물론 미국에서는 제일 먼동네이긴하지만 – 여기서 쿠바가는거나 서울 가는거나 거리는 얼추비슷할듯) Cuba관련 이런저런 걸 종종 접하며 (Cuban Sandwich, Cuban Coffee) 사는데 아는게 하나도 없던 찰나에 발견해서 쭈욱 부담없이 봤다..

Spain식민지/이민, 원주민 멸종, 노예무역, 해방과 미국에 경제 종속, 사회/공산혁명, 냉전 등등 모든일이 다 벌어진 섬인데…참나 여기도 파란만장하다란 생각…

Selling Sunset: Season 2

Another interesting time/data burner from Netflix landed season 2 and finished it… Actually, picked up its first series last year with the interesting comment that this is Girls next door+ House Hunter + Legally Blonde + Office :).

Anyhow story is an real estate brokerage/agency boutique firm in LA – selling expensive/upscale homes for celebs and rich clients and all the agents are ex-models or have model-like look. and yes there are in-office battles and personal issue struggles as well as fancy homes + great music selections during the course of show 🙂

Maybe one of the Netflix originals with the most ‘Entertainment’ value 🙂

작년에 회사에서 사람들과 이야기하다 Netflix에서 아주 시간 떼우기 좋은 골때리는 시리즈가 나왔다며 추천(?) 받았던 Selling Sunset – Season 2가 나와서 정주행해주셨다..ㅎㅎㅎ 요인즉슨, 전직 할리우드 모델 출신 혹은 그에 준하는 급의 비주얼 가진 에이전트들이 고급 주택을 최상류층 고객들에게 중개하는 부동산 부띠크의 이야기.. 이들은 서로 편가르고 싸우기도 하고 각자의 개인적인 문제로 골머리를 썩다가도 중개를 위해 열심히들 뛰어다닌다.. 물론 정확히 표현은 어렵지만 -미국의 돈많고 화려하지만 머리가 좀 비어있는 금발 여자들의 생활태도/방식/세계관도 보여준다…- 그나저나 나오는 집들의 영상미 그리고 쇼의 전반에 깔려있는 음악들이 끝내주심… (햐 이런집들이…ㅎㅎ)

(고로 난 절.대.로 경험할수 없는 미국 문화의 한 단면을 보여주는 동시에 상술한 다양한 이유로 entertainment value가 절대적으로 높은 시리즈..ㅎㅎ)

Taco Chronicles

Fun and mouth watering documentary from Netflix on various types & histories of Taco by every regions in Mexico. 😛

벌써 미국으로 건너온지 어여 15년.. (헐 이리 오래 지낼줄은 정말 몰랐는디..) 사실 미국와서 가장 “안먹다가 먹게된 음식”이 뭔지 생각해보면 Taco가 그중 하나이다.. (다른 하나는 소위 말하는 Mediterranean – 그리스, 터키,레바논 식의 밀병에 고기 야채 쌀 싸먹는… 말하고 보니 Taco랑 다른게 없는듯…)

암튼 멕시코 전역을 취재하면서 각 지역별로 어떤 타코를 먹는지 어떤 사연들이 있는지 등에 대해 상세히 documentary로 정리해 놨다.. 입에 군침이 줄줄….재미있는건 사진에서 보이는 방식의 케밥스타일 고기를 쓰는 타코는 Mexico City에서 시작되었다고 하는데 – 이 유래는 중동/레바논 출신 이민자들이 건너오면서 이렇게 해먹기 시작하었다고 한다..

토르 아저씨가 총들고 bollywood틱한 다카 한복판에서 인질을 말 그대로 끄집어 내주신다…. Netflix 영화인데 괜찮다…인도 배우들도 뭔가 다 한가닥씩 하는 배우들인것 같은데..내가 모르니…

Uncle Thor finally decided to toss those hammer away and showing his special ops skills in Bollywood environment. 🙂

The Vietnam War: A Film by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick

Another mid blowing series from Netflix- if you are history nerd or documentary nerd, 🙂 this is a must-see series. Long story with 10 episodes but nothing was boring at all, and this simple series can be better than whatever text book on Vietnam War.

우와 이거 Netflix의 최고의 명작중 하나..

시리즈가 너무 길어서 섣불리 시작못하던 시리즈였지만 그래도 가더 서다를 반복하며 결국 완주했다. 역사 Documentary의 거장 감독이 작정하고 만든 교과서급 작품…

월남전은 교과서에서 ‘우리도 저러면 안된다’라는 뉴앙스로 배운 ‘월남 패망’, 한동안 이슈였던 고엽제 후유증 문제, 쌀국수 Pho의 세계화 계기 정도의 단편적인 지식만 가지고 있었는데 .. 이 시리즈는 시작 이전부터 모든 과정에서 발생하는 미국/베트남/국제정치 사건들을 자세히 각측의 시각에서 서술해 나간다..

결론은 이 전쟁만큼 이런저런 일들이 사방에서 동시다발 발생한건 없는 듯 싶고, 당사자인 미국이나 베트남은 당연하겠지만 세계사적으로도 가장 큰 영향을 끼친 단일 사건이 베트남 전쟁이 아닐까 싶다..
