무작정 찾아간 Devil’s Punch Bowl 뭐 이 나라는 좀만 괴상스러우면 악마타령이다..ㅎㅎㅎ

Tillamook

Another stop at Tillamook – skipped the tour due to long waiting line but ice cream & checked Oregon’s drive thru Starbucks -Dutch Bros..

우리동네 아이스크림과 치즈의 대부분은 여기서 만들어지는 미북서부판 서울우유협동조합 공장이 있는 틸라묵- 근데 보통 아이스크림과 치즈를 주로하는데 뭐 공장에서 먹는 아이스크림은 맛이 똑.같.다..ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

한편 공장 나가는길에 보이는 오레곤의 스타벅스 더치브로스..사실 요란한 음료(에너지 드링크, 다양한걸 잔득 넣은 커피 등등)를 먹어야하는데 그냥 아메리카노..ㅎㅎ

Fort Stevens State Park: Peter Iredale Shipwreck

First stop – to look shipwreck in the chain of ‘Graveyard of the Pacific’ 🙂

첫 도착지는 폐허 투어…ㅎㅎㅎ 태평양의 선박 공동묘지라 불리는 오레곤 북쪽 부터 워싱턴 해안가 그리고 벤쿠버 섬 끝쪽까지의 태평양 해안은 거친 파도와 예측이 어려운 돌발 기후(해무, 비 돌풍 등등), 해안가에 쫙 나 있는 돌들 때문에 예전에는 뻑하면 배들이 침몰했단다… 그중 몇몇곳은 여전히 그냥 폐허로 남겨둔 곳들중 하나가 Columbia river 하구의 Oregon의 Fort Stevens 바닷가에 있는 shipwreck..

한편 이 동네나 워싱턴 해안가에는 Fort가 많은데… 이 또한 북쪽 친구들이랑 한판 붙을걸 대비해 (워싱턴 해안가의 섬들에 대한 영유권 분쟁-심지어 워싱턴에 있는 섬 하나에는 양국 군이 주둔하고 있었는데 경계를 넘어온 돼지 한마리 잡은것 때문에 일촉즉발까지 갔다가 돼지 고기를 나누면서 화해했다는 카더라 이야기도…-.-; ) 여기저기 해안가에 군사 기지를 만들어놨는데 지금은 다 공원이 되어 있다..

Lewis and Clark Bridge / Oregon Coast Highway

그동안 오래토록 집콕하다가 백신도 맞고 정신건강 회복 차원에서 아이들 Spring Break기간을 맞이하여 오랜만에 운전대 한번 제대로 잡아주셨다.. 북서쪽 외퉁수 마을에 사는데 담장 넘어 북쪽인 영국령 콜롬비아로 못가니 그동안 가보고는 싶지만 엄두를 못냈던 남쪽 미국령 콜롬비아를 탐방하기로 하고 제대로 달려주셨다.

차에서 내릴때마다 어디를 갈때 마다 항상 마스크 써야하는걸 remind해야해서 느낌이 많이 다르긴 했지만 뭐 이제 이건 앞으로의 standard라 편하게 생각하기로 마음을 잡아먹고 움직였다..

Back to the driving wheel in a while – after long no-travel + stay at home plus vaccination period. Still have to remind myself and families to wear masks and check the restaurants/stores status during the travel but this might be the new norm going forward..

As villager living at the northwest corner of the town and not allowed to go over the borderline of British Columbia, decided to take an expedition of ‘American Columbia’ 🙂

Tomorrow is the Day After Tomorrow

What will be the next for 2020?

On last Monday, I thought some of the neighbors are doing crazy fire pit burning but found out that was the smoke from Eastern Washington following the wind – since then no window opening although today was reasonably okay-still terrible; getting worse with sunset…

Now, the news is saying all smoke collections from California and Oregon are all of sudden turning north to march into Washington…ha 😦 I do miss rain….. to be fair I never hated Seattle/Washington rain… while I have hated the rain in Seoul though.. humid/sticky)

월요일날 저녁부터 산맥너머 반대편 동네에서 난 Wildfire로 인해 산넘어온 공기가 나빠 창문도 못열고 살았고, 심지어 -말이 이상하지만- ‘원래’ 불이 나지 않는 이 동네에서도 불이나서 동네 뉴스에서 난리였는데..

내일부턴 아예 Wildfire의 명가(?) 캘리포니아에서 모아주신 Smoke와 오레곤 Wildfire Smoke와 함께 두손잡고 홀연히 북쪽으로 방향을 틀었고, 내일 시애틀에 도착하신다고 한다…아…OTL

Finally, In-N-Out in a commutable distance..

Now, finally a new In-N-Out store opened at ‘commutable’ distance from Seattle.. near Salem, Oregon.. It is keep coming north!! 🙂

Maybe I should take a day off and get a lunch at there with 9 hours of driving?!

드디어 시애틀 기준 하루에 갔다올수 있는곳에 인앤아웃이 생긴다고 동네 뉴스에서 난리..ㅎㅎ 좀만 더 올라와주시길..

언제 날잡아 휴가 내고 함 먹으러 갔다올까? ㅡ.ㅡ

Alaska 2116: Portland to Seattle

Just after taking off from Portland – must be over the Columbia river…and noticed town has turned into snow town at next morning..

아니나 다를까 시애틀행 다른 비행기들이 다 연착인데 이건 제시간에 간다고 놀라면서 포틀랜드에서 탑승한 쌍발 비행기.. 결국은 30분 짜리 비행기 30분 지연 출발해서 (한편 승무원 아저씨가 승객들 재밌게 하려고 안내방송을 무슨 예능 라디오 방송 하듯이 해서 날려던 짜증은 사라져 주심…ㅎㅎㅎ) 한밤중에 돌아와 다음날 아침에 동네를 봤더니 뽀로로 마을이다.. 세상에 진눈깨비맞으며 금요일 아침에 떠나 일요일날 돌아오니 이러네..이게 왠 11월에 망조래..ㅎㅎ 🙂
