이걸 되살리려는 Surge Movement (코카콜라에 청원보내기) 등등이 있었다는것도 알게 되었고.. 각고의 투쟁끝에 결국 5년 전 부터즘인가 아마존에서 주문할수 있게 되었다는것만 알고 한동안 다시 잊었다가 얼마전 갑자기 기억이 나서 결국 주문…
하필 폭염 주의보가 떨어진 이번 주말 딱 어울리는 타이밍에 도착 – 대충 이제는 맛도 기억이 안나는 12년만에 맛본셈…ㅎㅎㅎ 그래도 머리속에 기억하고 있던 “Mountain View보다는 약간 덜 달은 시큼함이 강한 음료”는 여전한듯 싶다.
So pumped to taste this back! 🙂 This was one thing I have looked around to get the taste again since 2005 as I have an emotional tie of this with “Lonely dorm life in hot (in Summer) and cold (in Winter) days at Ames, Iowa from 1997 to 1998”
Anyhow, this soda was reintroduced after some hardcore fan’s movement aka “Surge Movement” and Coca Cola made it available from Amazon about 5 years ago…and finally.. I made a bold order recently and this just arrived at the day Red flag/Heat advisory went effective.
Still refreshing! (and my brain memory of ‘more citrus and less sugar than Mt. Dew” seems about right 🙂

보통 1-2년에 한번은 미친듯이 석화 먹는날을 가진다…뭐 돈 벌어야한다는 건 이해가 간다만 옛날처럼 굴을 사서 자유롭게 그 옆에서 구워먹고 까먹게 하던 시스템이 좋았다란 생각만 가득이다..
Annual or Bi-annual crazy oyster eating day..
Well I do understand, the farm needs to run the business for profit purpose, but I do miss the old days when everyone was welcome to do the charcoal grill and freely eat at open tables next to the shop. (Now, those tables are closed ‘restaurant table’ area and you cannot do the grilling at all)

Cold Noodle To-Go from Blue Ginger
지난주 날이 덥던 날, 집에서 ‘냉면 하나 먹으면 좋겠다’란 생각에 가게에 전화를 넣어서 냉면 To Go 가능한지 확인하고 사온 냉면…ㅎㅎ 픽업후 냉기 유지를 위해 미친듯이 달려집에와 먹었다..ㅎㅎㅎ 이넘의 바이러스때문에 정말 다양한 메뉴를 주문해 먹는다..
Surprised to learn even cold noodle is available for To-Go order at Blue Ginger.. 🙂

Bye Weber Smokey Joe
정말 오래 쓴 Smokey Joe… 사실 몇년전부터 밑에 바람 구멍 control이 분리되고 이제는 다리가 부실해지고 있어서 도저히 안되겠다 싶어서 짐정리의 일환 중 작별했다.. Ann Arbor에서부터 같이 온 식구 하나 더 작별.. (원래 동기형 거였는데 졸업할때 그 형이 서울로 가는 바람에 우리집에 Seattle로 같이 오셨음..ㅎㅎ)
10년넘게 수많은 고기를 구워주며 많은 동네 공원들, 캠핑장, 그리고 집의 덱 혹은 마당에서도 열심히 말없이 불살라줬던 친구와 작별했다… 심지어는 가난한 주인으로 인해 Fire pit역할을 한적도 종종 있고… (암튼 웨버의 튼튼함/내구성은 장난 아니다 싶다..)
사실집에서는 Gas Grill을 산 이후로 주로 야외용으로 데리고 다녔지만 훈훈한 맛은 최고로 잡아주는 좋은 친구였다..흑흑..
Took a last shot at recycle box for my long friend -Smokey Joe.. 🙂 This one travelled along with me from Ann Arbor, and went together numerous parks, camping sites, and been a good friend to cook all the meats we had during the years..
After crazy workloads and wears (sagging leg, and broken air control, and rusting grate) had to say good-bye to this good friend but hope he gets a renewed life to whatever it will be..

옷장 정리중 발견한 유물급들 옷… 다 사연있는 옷들이다… 2006년 월드컵 경기보러 갔다가 San Jose에서 받은 Helio 티, 2010년 T-Mobile시절 Promo티, 2010년 삼성 갤럭시 S 첫모델 출시때 회사에서 받은 티, 그리고 1999년 대학4학년때 시애틀에 학교 행사 왔다가 잠옷을 안챙겨와 U District Bookstore에서 급하게 산 헐렁이 반바지.. (이때 이렇게 될줄 알았나…ㅎㅎ)
All historic shirts and pant found out during closet cleanup – Helio from 2006 Worldcup watching event, 2010 T-mobile Kids are Free shirt during T-mobile Add-a-line promo, 2010 Samsung Galaxy S-T-mobile launch shirt, UW pants I bought at University Bookstore at the Ave in 1999 as a event visiting student (and found out I didn’t bring my pajama pants) – never imagined I end up living at here 🙂

Shelter’s Jay
오 이 잘생긴 새…. 여지껏 Blue Jay인줄 알았는데 알고보니 Blue Jay는 이 동네에 살지 않고 이 녀석은 얼굴이 까매서 뭘까하고 찾아봤더니 그 사촌 쯤 되는 Shelter’s Jay이구나
근데 이 새 이름이 한글로는 “어치”라고? 참 fishy한 이름은 가진 새…구나..ㅎㅎㅎ
I have always thought this was a Blue Jay and found out Blue Jay actually doesn’t live in western part of this continent.. and learned this guy’s name being Shelter’s Jay

Chick-Fil-A To-Go
Chick-Fil-A To go pickup – store is still crowded with drive thru although dining hall is closed. (you tell the staff at the door -blocked by table- then they hand it to you at the door.)
This was a totally opposite to the case I picked up the day before at local Thai restaurant (which is the hot spot for walking traffic form T-Mobile & I used to eat at there a lot) Store was dark not many to go orders and I could see the pain of survival in the restaurant’s staff’s face..
Sadly, this Stay At Home Order is impacting restaurants totally different ways – if store is driven by car traffic, looks like it is relatively holiding okay, but if the store is dependent on nearby foot/walking traffic, this must be a nightmare..
어제 점심은 Chick Fil A에서.. pickup (Doordash로 해도되긴하는데 그래도 … 직접하는게 좋을듯해서…) 가게 문앞을 Table로 막고 online으로 주문한걸 pickup해가는 방식.. 물론 Drive Thru는 여전히 엄청나게 줄이 길다..
사실 어제는 동네 Thai집에서 pickup해서 먹었는데 (여긴 주고객이 T-mobile직원임..나도 옛날에 애용하던 가게…) 픽업하러가서 한적한 식당과 우울한 표정의 가게 직원을 보니 마음 한편이 짠했는데 Chick Fil A는 (물론 홀에는 사람이 없지만.. ) Drive Thru 여전히 꽉차있다…
Stay At Home Order는 사람들이 차로 가는 가게는 상대적으로 타격이 적은데 비해..아무래도 걸어 가는 가게는 타격이 어마어마한듯하다…

Milkie Milkie Bingsu Cafe at Edmonds – The Last Dessert Before Corona Shutdown
Happen to visit here at last Saturday after grocery shopping (well it is more of restocking) and this dessert end up being the last dessert we had at café (with ‘very distancing’ in the store) for foreseeable future period. -Just a day before governor’s order of restaurant shutdown.
Nice Bingsu with fine & crispy ice but their ice was not milk based, so I wondered why they are calling themselves as Milkie Milke
As US never opens up any infection source details of confirmed cases on Corona -only the numbers of confirmed cases and deaths by county with news of random people getting confirmations, I found myself feeling more nervous on being outside. Especially noticing the continued growth of confirmed case numbers (now Washington state just passed 1k) Now, I think the dessert I had at last weekend seems crazier & stupid idea than few days ago..
Also, after almost-two-weeks of ‘stuck at home’, staying at home feels more comfortable as fear of being outside becomes bigger than the challenges of ‘stuck at home’
Maybe this pandemic might end up creating lots of new 2020 Otakus who will refuse to get outside and stay at home with repetition of work & sleep after all things are settled.. (and I might be already one of those.. 🙂 )
결국 당분간의 마지막이 된 ‘가게에 앉아 먹는’ 디저트 (이제는 주정부에서 모든 음식점을 takeout 만 하게금 폐쇄해서 더이상 이렇게 앉아 먹는 ‘호사’는 당분간 불가능..)

한편, 미국에서는 확진자에 대한 감염 관련 정보를 전혀 공개하지 않고 county별 확진자 사망자 수만 발표하는 관계로 점점 증가하는 수자를 보며 (오늘부로 Washington 주 1000명 돌파…) 진짜로 이젠 어디서 어떻게 걸릴수도 있다는 생각에 밖에 나가기가 무서워진다. 한편, 지금 보면 이렇게 주말에 먹은것도 진짜 간이 부은/미친 행동이 아닐까란 생각까지 든다…
이제는 슬슬 나가는것에 대한 공포가 집안에만 있는 따분함 보다 더 커지니 집에 있는게 마음이 더 편해진다..ㅡ.ㅡ; 이번 대공황은 결국 같은 방에서 자다 일하다만 하고 사회생활을 거부하는 2020형 오타쿠를 많이 양산하겠다는 생각도 들고 나도 그중 하나가 되어가는 느낌이다…

Okay.. I can understand hand sanitizer, wipes, and masks.. but why are people crazy on toilet paper rolls? Every time I go to restroom I get nervous as we don’t have much left…
